On page 79 of "7th U-BOAT FLOTILLA: DONITZ'S ATLANTIC WOLVES" by Angus Konstam & Jak Mallmann Showell, there's a photo of two "mixers" applying brown grease to a G7e being loaded into the
torpedo room.

You wrote: "German torpedo tubes in WWII did not use rollers, only rails." Keith Gill posted a message in the "General Discusions" section
Titled "Re: U505 Restoration" on 12/2/03 9:53 PM, stating: "The photo that was posted showing thick pads on U-995 are not present on the
U-505 tubes."

He also states: "The interior diameter is 53.5cm so this answers your
clearance questions."

He will attempt to accurately measure the length of a torpedo tube, to
try to settle that question also.
