Is this something you know for sure. I talked to a friend who is a naval officer and deals with sub hunting by profession. He was of the opinion that it was highly unlikely that a torpedo had a self destruction mechanism (SDM), since it would sink to the bottom in case of a "miss" anyway and SDM would make the whole construction of the torpedo needlessly complicated, not to say even dangerous to the crew.
You seem very sure, and the fact that these torpedoes were reported as exploding gives credit to your opinion, I just like a second confirmation.
