Hi Philipp and Robert,
While I am aware of E. Roessler calling the UZO Ubootzieloptik, I strongly believe he made a mental error in his description. All ex-Uboot sailors I knew called this by it's proper name UeberwasserZielOptik (exactly because of the reason given by Philipp).
Since Robert was a Torpedomixer (albeit for a competing service) he can be forgiven for his limited command of the German language: ueber = above ; unter = below. :-))))
