I would like to know how U-Boats operated when docked side by side or in the U-Boat pens without retractable or folding dive planes. Most subs had the feature to retract or fold so they would not be damaged. I am under the impression that the ones on WWII U-Boats were fixed. I posted this in the general forum area and did not get any answers. Maybe someone will reply in this section. This question has been in my head for years and I have not been able to get an aswer. Thanks to all who reply.
