HI ALL, MY WIFES GRANDFATHER WAS A SURVIVOR OF THE SINKING OF THIS SHIP. IT WAS SUNK BY GERMAN SUBMARINE OFF THE COAST OF CUBA. IT HAPPENED IN 1942 ENROUTE FROM NEW YORK. HE TOLD ME IT WAS A MERCHANT MARINE VESSEL. I GUESS THAT IS WHAT THEY CALLED THEM PERHAPS? MY GRANDPA BY MARRIAGE IS DECEASED NOW AND HE WAS A GREAT MAN AND SERVED OUR COUNTRY UP PAST VIETNAM AND SERVED IN ALL THREE WARS. HIS NAME IS CAPT.ROBERT E. WILSON FROM METHUEN MASS. HOPE THIS HELPS ANYONE LOOKING FOR INFO!!
