u boat pressure testing

after ww2 surrendered u boats were pressure tested by the british. they were lowered over the bows of specially adapted ships on very large cables untill they imploded. they were then winched back up to see where the weak spots were. i read a book many years ago detailing this testing. the authors name was fell comander fell. stan
