Hi Don,

Thanks so much for the info. The generator in question purportedly came from a U-boat in Argentina and was used for DC power on many Hollywood movies (Taras Bulba, Rio Lobo, Catch 22, Day of The Dolphin, Sorcerer, and others). It's now mounted in a tractor-towed trailer with a huge radiator and cooling system.

I'll have to take a closer look at it as it may be one of the smaller converters you mentioned. Perhaps any voltage output plates mounted on the engine could help with that. At any rate, we'd still like to know if it did, in fact, come from a U-boat; if so, which one it may've come from; and any other provenance we can find.

One other thing I just thought of that seemed strange: Several of the plates/tags mounted on the generator were written in German AND English.

Thanks again, Don, for taking the time to write,
Tony
