Hi,

well, generally, on the radio/sonar watch were always two people (even
if the boat was not equipped with radar).

The sound and radio equipment was operated by the same people (if boat
surfaced/submerged, they simply changed their stations).

The most common radars were: FuMO 29, FuMO 30 and FuMO 61.
The FuMO 29/FuMO 30 set was located in the control room, so when surfaced,
in the radio room, the radio equipment was operated by one person, and the
radar in control room was operated by other person.

FuMO 61 radar was miniaturized to the size, which allowed fitting it in
radio room, but of course it also had to be operated by the second person.

Some information on U-Boats radars you can find here:

Radar and sonar were not integrated into one unit.
