Hello everyone, I read somewhere where earlier in the war, the Germans made use of a personal breathing apperatus in case the air was fouled. From what I understand it was a canister strapped onto one's chest and a hose went to a mask worn over the face. I have heard or read somwehere, where if the U boat had to stay down an extended time due to it bein stalked or chased, the crew could put this on to extend the lengto of time the boat stayed underwater. Was this true and if so how much longer time would this allow the Captain to stay down?
