Technology and Operations
In Jak P. Mallmann Showell's "Kriegsmarine in WWII" there is a photo of U 883.
It shows a strange hull, thinner in the mid section just before the tower.
The author describes this improvement as "to reduce crash dive times".
I don' t think that such a modify could reduce diving times at all.
Was that the only boat to have such a modified hull?
What was the duty of that?
Thanks.
Sergio Ferraro.
