U Boat Chronometer

I have a Ships chronometer which I am resonablby sure comes from a U Boat that surrendered in the UK in Operation DeadLight, around May 1945.
What are the possibilities of locating the ship from the serial number on the face,I would like to learn as much as possible about the Boat and its fate.
