dAbout German U-boat operations in the Black sea..

I yhave a question that maybe any one here can answer me on please..
did german U-boats make any major operations against the russian Black sea Fleet during WW II. I know some u-boats was lost there but i dont know much about any allied "kills" in the area..
Because woudlnt the Russian fleet been vornelbul for the U-boats in the begining of the German Russian campain, because of the german air supiority?
They woylnt have any aircrafts to support there surface ships or canvoys.
