HMS Aurania (F28)
Date: February 05, 2004 11:13PM

<HTML>Your reference to this ship being part of convoy SL-89 is in question. This convoy designation refers to the West Africa-London route. The ship was on a convoy ex-Halifax when it was torpedo damaged on the night of the 20th-21st October 1941. If U-123 did in factg torpedo damage the ship as claimed then the convoy designation is wrong. Can anyone clarify the convoy designation?

The reason I am clear on my facts is that I have the ship's log in my posession as my Father had been a senior officer aboard HMS Aurania (Commander William Cuthbertson DSC).

Andrew Cuthbertson
