My Dad, Dave Morey was a stoker on board HMS Trinidad
going into Murmansk and also when she was scuttled.
He was 22 at the time. He spoke very little about the war
and almost nothing about these events.
He did however tell how some of his best friends were still, sitting dead, with cigarettes still burning in their mouths,as he and others came up from the engine room to abandon ship.
Are there any more out their with any more info?
It was after his death that I read the full story of the Trinidad's end.
I now realise how lucky I am to be alive as I was not born until 1953.
He retired after 22 years service in 1960.
