Researching the history of HMS Alynbank on behalf of one of the wife of one of the crew later PO Jack Foxall who served on this ship when it was involved in Arctic convoys and the Battle of Salerno where it was damaged. The crew were later dispersed and Jack then served on HMS Diadem
Built by Harland and Wolf Ltd Glasgow in 1925 for Bank Line Ltd part of the Andrew Weir shipping line based in Gasgow. She was requisitioned by the Admiralty in 1939 and converted to an anti aircraft ship and transferred in 1941 to MOWT. This ship later became part of Gooseberry 1 (Mulberry harbour) where she was sunk. This ship was refloated in December 1945 and was scrapped at Troon Scotland over the subsequent months.
