My father Vayle Gordon was on the Camrose the last year of the war. We took a tour of the Sackville, the last Corvette at Halifax where he pointed out the things he remembered. He slept at the very front of the ship and when the big gun fired he was shook right out. He also told me about the foggy night when a British ship rammed them about the middle right where the grey paint was stored. It splashed down the hallway right into the captain`s quarters. They left the convoy and made their way to Plymouth, Eng. for repairs. Everyone was nervous as they limped along as they had a "blanket" over the hole to prevent sinking. They got several days off while repairs were made.
