During the Second World War, the RCN started naming vessels after towns and cities. It soon became apparent that we had too many names in common with our allies - Paris, London, Windsor, Dartmouth, Verdun, etc., and the principle was that no two Allied warships should have the same name.
So the RCN came up with the idea of using "alternative" names for their ships to 'honour' selected communities. INCH ARRAN was the alternative name for Dalhousie, NB. If you want more info, see my book Canadian Warship Names, a copy of which should be in a large library near you.
INCH ARRAN was never sunk, hence no survivors. She was retained at the end of the war and later modified into a Prestonian class frigate, serving up to the late 1960's. For details on her career, see Macpherson and Burgess, Ship's of Canada's Naval Forces, 1910 to 1981. Her wqartime career is roughly laid out on page 229.
