I was in the Cowdray at the time and well remember picking up the survivers from the Curacao who were in a dreadful shape, many having ingested oil. As I recall the Cowdray had two Sub/Lts,one was RNNZVR,the other a young RN Sub named Primrose (I think).Londonderry was our base at the time, but when next on the Clyde I remember seeing the QM with a great dent in her bows.
