My late father was one of the 15 survivors and this is the reason why I have an interest in the ASW trawler HMS Birdlip.
I have gathered quite a lot of information on the ship, which also includes survivor’s reports, but I am learning more all the time. For example I didn't know HMS Birdlip was one of the first to be fitted with radar? By this I take it you don't mean asdic? Have you any more on this? I also wasn't aware that Birdlip took part in the Torch Landings?
My father always said there were 15 survivors but the only reference to this I have is from the book 'The Lillyput Fleet' by A C Hampshire. Can you tell me your source?
