My father Charlie Dalrymple served aboard HMS Petard from June 1942 till September 1944, he would never tell me of his time aboard the ship, I don't know why. I have just bought 2 books Fighting Destroyer by G.G. Connell, the complete story of this remarkable ship and her crew, and also Capturing Enigma by Stephen Harper, how The Petard sunk the German U-boat U559 and captured the enigma codes.
