FAIRFAX
former merchant vessel 'Burlington' (built 1936) requisitioned 28 December 1939 and commissioned as HMS BURLINGTON
3580 tons 280ft x 38 ft
coal fired/two boilers/one shaft/reciprocating steam engines : 10 knots
armed in naval service with 2 x 12 pdr, later 4 x 12 pdrs.
Converted for use as a 'mine destructor vessel' (to deal with magnetic mines). Renamed FAIRFAX January 1941 (was to have been 'Soothsayer' but not implemented). Converted to a
repair and maintenance ship 1943; paid off into reserve Janury 1944; sold for scrap April 1945
Cannot help with the other 'sweeper
