There was a Royal Navy land base named as:-
HMS Nuthatch, Anthorn, Cumberland, England (1944-1958).
Could it be that your parents were married here and your father served on the Sussex. Any idea who signed the marraige certificate?
Could you provide a better description of the plaque, in particular the bird.
