Hi Nick,
as far as I can ascertain, Horatio was torpedoed & sunk by the German S.58, carrying out interdiction patrols from Bizerte. At the time of Horatio's loss there were no Italian boats in the area.
Also, note that MAS.5 was a WWI unit, there was no boat of that number in service in WWII (that includes the MS too - they started at MS.11).
