It is nonsense to say that "there wouldn't have been time", all wartime losses - where there were survivors - would have had a court of enquiry, however perfunctory, but they would not normally have been published, being a classified document.

However, the problem here I suspect is that Talisman disappeared in September 1942 on passage to Malta from Gibraltar. In this case there were no survivors to interview and indeed no proper date of loss.

It is more likely that you should be able to find reports from the relevant Sub. Flotilla Captains, reporting her overdue; the correspondence of Admiral, Submarines may also contain some information. These are in the National Archives.

Have you tried asking the Submarine Museum? They have an extensive archive and research facility. See the contact details at:
