Hello Both,
My sources say much the same as Brians, foundered in North Atlantic 16/3/43. However. There is a piece in TNA at Kew ADM1/16875 which states.
BOARDS OF INQUIRY AND DISCIPLINARY COURTS (29): Loss of HMS CAMPOBELLO: survey on damage to hull, and investigation into competence of chief engineman: board of enquiry.
This would suggest to me that the vessel had collided with something? and the engineman was the scapegoat.
As part of an on going project on Siri's site concerning the HX Convoy series,
[www.warsailors.com]
I should be looking at the reports on HX 229 in the near future. I will also try and look at ADM1/16875. If there is anything of interest I will post on this forum.

regards
Roger.
