Hello Both,
As promised I took a look at ADM1/16875. This file was over 200 pages!
The main Points.
HMS CAMPOBELLO was damaged by a Surge? whilst alongside at number 18 berth in Quebec (City?) on 2/12/1942.
After surveys at Sherbrooke and Hailfax she had temporary repairs at St John Newfoundland.
Foundered in seas up to 30ft for lack of adequate pumps on 15/3/43. Taken in tow by HMS GODETIA. after 20 mins the tow parted, all crew transferred with no loss of life.
Sunk with a single D/C by HMS GODETIA.
The Engineman , one, James William English, an ex Trawlerman from Fleetwood seems to have been exonerated from any blame.
cheers
Roger
