Hi David.
Sorry for the delay in answering you, i have just returned from my holiday today (17th)
My brother, Dennis Whitworth, also served on the Bulolo as a telegraphist from 1944 until the end of the war. He came from Northampton and i can recall him telling me that he would tune in to the radio transmitting station at Daventry ( about 8miles from where he lived ) to take down the latest newspaper headlines. How he arrived at Bulolo is a mystery to me, he was stationed at Guam (Maldive Islands) to repotr on Japenese shipping, then the next line on his naval report is that he joined the Bulolo.
I recall him telling me that the Bulolo was part of the Armada that was sailing to Japan when the war ended. I have a few photo's if you would like me to mail them to you.
Please keep in touch.
Kind Regards,
Keith Whitworth. ( youngest brother)
P.S. Dennis sadly died in 1977 aged 51 years.
