My Dad, Dave Morgan (Rattler) was a NAAFI Canteen Assistant onboard the Hilary at Juno Beach during the D-Day Landings, I got these details from RN Records:- he joined the Hilary on 10th November 1943 and stayed on her until 2nd January 1945 unfortunately he passed away some years ago and hardly ever talked about the landings. The only night he ever talked about the Hilary was durung a visit to our local British Legion Club in North Devon by some Canadians over here on a old comrades visit in 2004, they had been landed from the Hilary at Juno. He also said that Hilary was nearly hit by a bomb. Does your father remember any of this, I know there was a large crew on her but did he know anything of my Dad, I don't know how many NAAFI Staff were aboard but maybe he might recall something. My father was released in 1946, but re-joined the Navy again in 1950 and stayed until he was pensioned in 1972. Regards Dave Morgan also a 'Rattler' ex RN.
