The Nelson on the second row behind the dog is my father Ed "Red" Nelson. He came off PC1128 in August 45 along with most of the crew after Japan surrendered. I have a letter he had written home stating that they were in Taipan waiting for a ship to bring them home but all the ships were in Japan at that time. That was dated August 45. He was on PC1128 from the time it came out of New Orleans in June 43 until that time. Using the letters my mother saved, I've been able to trace his where abouts as he traveled through the panama canal to the Soloman Islands where they were based at Carter City.
