My uncle Travis Earl Ziegler was one of the five sailor lost when the USS Skylark struck mines off Okinawa in 1945 - I believe his MOS would have put him in the engine room.
My father still in grade school remembers the event, there is a tombstone for Travis at the cemetery in Coffeville Kansas, however his body was never recovered.
