I served on HMS GENTIAN (K90) and our captain D was destroyer Hesperus. Every 1st day out I was as sick as the proverbial parrot. As I am nearing 89 next birthday my memory for detail is a little hazy. If it holds up I think Donald Macintyre was a skipper with a red beard and a lust for action. I often wished I could swap corvette Gentian for destroyer Hesperus,corvettes were the worst type of ship in the world for keeping your food down. I left B2 escort group in late 43 to prepare for the D-Day landing. Sorry I cannot give more detail.....Theo Folkes
