Debbie,
I've been looking for the same info! a couple years ago I interviewed my dad about his WWII service, for a college paper. He'd never talked about it, and I didn't have high expectations, so like an idiot, I didn't think to record him. He talked so much, things I never knew. One of those things was that he went to Iceland as a Marine, on an old British cruise-liner reassigned for military use. He said he shipped out of New York, I think he it was Pier 95... I spent months trying to find ANYONE who might have served with him, and never found a soul.
He died last June of Alzheimer's, and I am desperately looking for more info.
