Hi,David H.
I was part of the cable party that day...Boxing Day ,1955
After the water came inboard I appeared to be the only one left on the fosc`le
Eddie O` Conner was hanging by his wrist from the steel slip rope and the Ist Lt.
came down and we made an attempt to pull him back aboard but he dropped into the
sea.I next saw him in hospital.George? Forster and Joe Mercer were lost.I spent the next week in hospital along with Jerry Dawson and Eddie O` Conner and the cable party officer who was badly injured.You certainly did not dream this.
