PERIM was not a River class, but a Colony class frigate.
Tech details -
1436 / 2280 tons 304ft x 37.5ft
2 shafts reciprocating steam engines ; 18.5 kntos
armed 3 x 3in, 4 x 40mm, 4 x 20mm and 64 depth charges
Built by Walsh-Kaiser, Seattle, USA as the USS PHILLIMORE, launched 5 Nov. 1943; transferred to Royal Navy and commissioned 19 March 1944 as PERIM (pennant K-593).
She served with the 18th Escort Group, based at Greenock, Scotland, being employed in escorting convoys. She stayed in these waters throughout her time with the RN; returned to the US Navy in May 1946 she was broken up for scrap in 1947

TYNE
depot ship for destroyers
Built by Scotts at Greenock, launched 28 Feb. 1940
10850 tons 623ft x 66ft
2 shaft turbines = 17 knots
armed; 8 x 4.5in; 8 x 2pdr
She spent much of the war (1941 - 1944) moored at Scapa Flow, providing support for destroyers; in June 1944 moved to the Solent to give support to escorts for the D Day landings; in November 1944 deployed to the Far East (initially to Trincomalee, then on to Fremantle, Manus, Leyte and finally Sydney), following the advance of the allies and providing support. She returned to UK in Dec. 1946

THRACIAN
... a curiosity!
This was a World War One destroyer - built by Hawthorn Leslie, Tyneside, launched 5 March 1920
905 tons 276ft x 26ft
armed 1 x 4in, 1 x 3in
By 1939 she was feeling her age, and was based in the Far East, at Hong Kong. When the Japanese attacked Hong Kong in December 1941 she was damaged by bombing attacks and subsequently sank in shallow water. When the Japanese occupied the colony they managed to salvage her, and she subsequently entered their service as "Patrol Boat number 101"; she was later reduced to a harbour training role as "Training Boat number One". When the Japanese surrendered in July 1945 she was taken back into British control. Evidently your father in law was one of the crew that took her back to Hong Kong from Japan. She never re-entered service and was scrapped in 1946.

HOLDERNESS
Hunt class escort destroyer
Built by Swan Hunter on Tyneside, launched 8 Feb. 1940
1000 tons 280ft x 29ft
2 shafts; steam turbines ; 26 knots
armed 4 x 4in, 4 x 2pdr; depth charges
Like many of her sister Hunt class, she was initially stationed in the North Sea, escorting coastal convoys; she was involved in an action on 14/15 March 1941 with enemy fast torpedo boats whilst so engaged;
In June 1944 she took part in the D Day landings
She was scrapped in 1956
