Hello Simone,

HMS SANTA was reported mined in 41°22' N, 08°58' E (western approaches to La Maddalena, actually about 9 miles west of Bonifacio). Is this compatible with the wreck you found?
No Allied nor any Axis submarines laid mines in this area but she was most probably sunk on the defensive minefields laid by the German minelayers BRANDENBURG and POMMERN on 26 August 1943 ( three rows, 7 AN, 8 AN and 9 AN, respectively with 200 EMC, 106 EMF and 99 EMF mines = total of 405 mines) laid off Bonifacio.
