Allied and German naval action in South Atlantic

My wife (the author, Barbara Mutch) and I are undertaking research for a new book. Could a member of the forum please advise on the best source of information about Allied vessels engaged in naval action in the South Atlantic and subsequently calling (for repairs) and to ofload injured sailors at the Royal Navy's South Atlantic base in Simonstown (Selborne dockyard).
