I have recently recieved a small amount of information about my father's naval service. It appears that he was assigned to MMS 293 in June 1943 until November 1943. My mother records that he was hurt aboard ship on October 19th 1943 and was hospitalized for several weeks at Chatham, he was allowed home for recuperation and later returned to apparent shore duty in July 1944. I am trying to find out any information to help me understand my father's career, he did not talk about the hostilities very much and died in 1989.His name, William Nash and he had wireman as his rating.
