Hi, I have a thermometer that my grandfather liberated from a uboat whilst serving in the royal navy during ww1. the brass case is marked with the date 30.7.1917 and the maker C.WILH.Stein Sohn.Hamberg. and the serial no 123496.
He also had the sight from the deck gun and some crockery but these have disappeared over the years, I don't know the uboat number or what ship he served on, I wondered if the date and serial number would match it to a particular uboat, if any members of the forum could offer an opinion I would be very grateful
regards Cyril.
