Hi folks.
I'm hoping someone can give me a little more info, or can at least confirm the information I have concerning a ship my great grandfather was lost on.
The information I know is correct is.........
I know the ship's name was SS Eveleen.
There are three deaths listed on 6th May 1918 from that ship (my great grandfather being one of them).
What i've heard from my family is......
That SS Eveleen was an armed deep sea trawler, and that she was torpedoed by a German U boat as she was leaving Ayre, Scotland to head for a patrol in the Irish Sea.
Can anybody shed any more light of the fate of the ship, and if it was a U Boat victim can anyone identify the boat/captain who sunk her?
Thanks in advance.
Neil
