<HTML>On 3rd June 1918 the armed trawler 'ST. JOHNS' was attacked and sunk by a surfaced submarine to the north of Ireland with gunfire. The British court of enquiry into the loss commented favourably on the conduct of the U-Boat captain, who, after taking the skipper prisoner, ensured the safety of the survivors by broadcasting the position of their boat by radio.
