I wouldn't think that a U-boat commander would have mistaken a 241-ton trawler for a 2,000-ton ship. Erich Forste took the boat out along the English east coast from 17 July until 6 August 1918, but I don't have him down as sinking any vessels along the east coast during that period. However, maybe some of the experts on the forum know better?
