<HTML>Hi Jose,
the coordinates for the sinking place the boat 1110 km west of Bordeaux. My info is that U49 attacked B. Transport by gunfire but the ship was able to disengage in the falling darkness. Later that evening she avoided 2 torpedoes (this is open to interpretation - a lot of torpedo sightings were just tricks of fervid imaginations). Shortly after this attack, the freighter's lookouts sighted the surfaced boat's phosphorescent wake (which may have masked the onrushing cargo ship), the master came about & rammed the boat which stopped. 3 men scrambled out of the CT calling for help but just then a shell from the cargo's gun detonated inside & the sub sank quickly, time being 2120 hrs and no survivors were to be seen.
If any men had been able to get out, I sincerely doubt they would have been to survive 2 months, much less reach the vicinity of the British coast.
(I can always be wrong) HTH, regards, Brian</HTML>
