<HTML>According to my sources the loss of Yorck had nothing to do with the Great Yarmouth bombardment.
She was at anchor in the Jade and had a leaky condenser: her CO decided to go into dock to have it repaired; accordingly she weighed anchor and proceeded towards the Arsenal without tugs, but due to strong tidal currents drifted to the wrong side of the defensive minefield marker buoy & met he end. The wreck was such a hazard to navigation it was moved a few years ago into a dredged trench purposely excavated to sink her deeper in the sand.
