<HTML>Hello Michael,
Sorry, he dosen`t mention any other UB111 wrecks
which might help you.
Parts of page 16,17--
" The Commander had a bullet wound in his forehead
and another near his stomach.
The man had apparently been shot from below with a revolver
as he either tried to tighten the hatch or open it to give some
of his crew a chance of getting blown to the surface in the
great rush of air out of the submarine."
"All of her machinery had been put out of action by a single
shell and there was no way to get her up to the surface.
Over 30 officers and crewmen were trapped.
As the air reserves dwindled and the water rose, there had
clearly been panic. Some had apparently murdered others by
shooting with revolvers- one gun was lying at the foot of the
conning tower ladder. Others also appear to have to have committed
suicide by shooting themselves".
" The scene was terrible. Some had written letters to their families
and the papers and the envelopes were floating about in the
narrow mess room. I managed to collect some of these,
together with jewellery, rings, watches, rosaries, sacred hearts
and, of course, every other man wore an Iron Cross.
I believe all these things were sent, after the war to Germany
and returned to the relatives".
My questions, How many revolvers were carried on a u-boat?
Also, Brian, how do you know that this was bogus?
Regards, Vin.</HTML>
