<HTML>Hi Josep
Here is what I have on Skogland:
Build: 1906
Brt: 3264/2584
Company: Rederi AB
Homeport: Hälsingborg
Captain: J. Persson
Crew: 26
Cargo: 4071 t. Coal
Left Norfolk (Virginia) the 27. January, going to Bagnoli (Italy) whit coal.
The 15. February they stopped by Gibraltar to get further orders. Left again same afternoon with order to follow the spanish coast. Sunday the 18. February at 0515 they where passing Tarragona, when they heard a warningshoot from starbord. They stopped engines immidiately and gave 3 short signals whit the steam whistle. They couldn't see any ships , but 10 minutes later a uboat came alongside to see the ships- and cargopapers. They gave the papers to the uboatcommander and after he had looked into them he gave the order that the crew had 10 minutes to leave Skogland. Perrson argued for more time and at last they got 20 minutes to abandon the ship. They left in 3 boats. Skogland was thereafter sunk by demolition charges and shells. The crew arrived in Tarragona at 1100 where the vicekoncul took care of them.
Regards
