When did Ballard conduct his research?
It must be a fact that most ships that were sunk in this period were steam ships with boilers.(some had 4 or 5). When they sunk all the boiler rooms and thus the boilers would have been flooded but they did not all explode with the same disasterious results .
The methane gas theory is based upon modern research conducted at the wreck site.
