Hello!
U 151 was rammed by destroyer "Parthian":
06.30h at 35°30'N-08°14'W "Parthian" sighted an u-boat, attacked, but the u-boat dived
06.49h at 35°36'N-08°07'W she tried to ram the periscope, ran over the u-boat and there was an collision, than "Parthian" dropped an depth-charge.
All I know from "Begonia" is, that she was to sail "if ready" on 03.09. from Devonport to an area 05°15'W, between 46°/50°N (western entrance of the Channel).
During august 1917 the "Begonia" used Queenstown, Pembroke and Devonport as ports.
On october 1917 she went missing (or let's say: she was posted missing, as there was no chance for her to return!).
I don't know if this 03.09.17 reference really was her last patrol, also I don't know if she really sails on 03.09. or later.
There is an slight possibility that UC 47 was responsible for her loss.
On 03.10. in the morning UC 47 sank an unknown steamer of about 2000 g.r.t. west of Trevose Hd. (but this steamer was outward bound and the Cornwall coast was not the area of operation for "Begonia") ?
Another possibility:
UB 32 operated at the western end of the Channel which fits with "Begonia"'s operational area, and UB 32 was lost with all hands at the end of september.
But it could also be, that "Begonia" was lost due to an mine or to an accident etc. ????
Cheers
Oliver
