In a word, no. If there was a torpedo explosion (and versions of the yarn describe a torpedo explosion), she spent no unusual length of time in refit. A 'Lt Zur Zee Richter' is the usual name associated with the ghost story, despite extensive research, I have found no such officer associated with this boat. Of course I could be wrong but...
