To add to this thread about the vessel identity.
Appears the Waterford Sinking Disaster Commemoration Committee and Richard McElwee, who wrote The Last Voyages of the Waterford Steamers, identify the vessel described by Hashagen as the Coningberg not the Formby.
I think an issue with that identification is Hashagen mentions a page later sinking another vessel within a short span, 24-36hrs. I admit the description of events of the latter vessel read a bit fictional and wonder if Hashagen dressed it a bit for his audience.
