Good day, Edward George was my Mother’s Uncle. He was only 18 when he died. His Mum, my Mum’s Grandmother, told her that he was standing on the bridge at the time of the torpedo attack. My Mum, who is 83 years old, recalls that only 3 men were killed - I see that records indicate that 2 were killed. He was decapitated in the attack. Mum recalls her Gran telling her how she knew that her son had been killed when she saw 2 policeman approaching her house. Mum saw a medal in Gran’s list which had his name “Edward Darius George” inscribed thereon.
